She's accepted that love and romance have passed her by. He's determined to prove it's never too late.

Widowed and over sixty might not sound like the perfect life to some people, but Lydia fully intends to remain single. Book 4 of this humorous romantic comedy saga finds the dashing and sexy, Morrison Fox, trying to woo the reluctant and sassy, Lydia McCarthy. The results are as funny as they are surprising.

Lydia McCarthy doesn't want any man in her life, much less an incorrigible old flirt like Morrison Fox. Widowed since her forties, being single suits her just fine. She truly can't see any sane reason to risk her peaceful existence for someone who says he wants to make wine out of her one minute and then embarrasses her the next. Does it matter at her age that Morrie might be her last chance to find true love?

ABOUT THE NEVER TOO LATE SERIES

Tired of younger heroines and heroes getting all the action? How about some seasoned romance? The Never Too Late series is a collection of sexy, contemporary, romantic comedies about mature people in their 40s and 50s who are busy finding love and romance.

These contemporary romances are intentionally heavy on humor and light on tears. The mature, sexy heroines are successful in life, but not successful in love, as their friends are quick to point out. The sexy heroes are drool worthy, confident, and know what it takes to make a woman feel loved and wanted.

First, I LOVED this story. The other reviewers tell the story so I will be brief. A 67 year old widow in great shape but with a very caustic attitude and demeanor is the heroine. The hero is 62 year old Morrie, a widow with a grown daughter. He is the exact opposite. A fun loving tease that everyone seems to love. Very strong in his Jewish faith he falls for the non-Jewish heroine. The religion doesn't really have a big part in the story except to briefly explain his thoughts from time to time. He was married to a wonderful woman and they had a great life until her death. He attitude toward sex is very casual and very straight forward.

The heroine was unhappily married with no sex life at all. Raise by parents that did not even use the "s" word, she was very innocent and naïve. She went to all girl schools all the way through college. There were no men on the scene. This lady had problems even saying penis. It is hard to imagine someone like this but I do know they really do exist in real life. She had an arranged marriage, he didn't love her and she didn't love him. He had no patience with her in bed and convinced her that all the failings were her fault. He had ladies on the side and she was glad. They had one daughter. So, she meets the wild and crazy Morrie and he sets his cap for her. Two totally opposites. He sets out to win her over and this is their story. it is very good.. It is hard to imagine a 67 year old as sexy but this lady has kept herself in tip top shape, dresses to the nines, has her hair done and her nails done and looks 20 years younger. Most of the single men in their community are after her but with such a bad taste of sex she wants nothing to do with them.

The story is funny and informative as they decide to talk to a sex therapist about her problem and how he can help her. I could go along with everything until the therapist suggested SHE practice some very intimate acts with a total stranger! I thought this was rather ludicrous. Here you have a female, 67, that cannot even say the word penis and she is going to be intimate with a total stranger for homework! NOT. But, it was very informative and fun and a great read. I highly recommend it. If you like older H & hs, folks that have lived a lot of life and are no longer playing games, etc. then you will love this story.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Dating A Silver Fox A Novel Never Too Late Book 5 eBook Donna McDonald Reviews

Dating A Silver Fox (Never Too Late)This is a great addition to a wonderful series. Having read about Lydia McCarthy in the previous books in the Never Too Late series, most importantly in Dating a SaintDating A Saint (Never Too Late Series), she was the bitchy mother that made you feel bad for her daughter. Now, in her story, you find out why Lydia has lived her life the way she has because a man she knows through her volunteer work, Morrie Fox has decided that Lydia is the woman for him. She has no understanding of why he is pursuing her and thinks that her normal coldness will deter him. Fortunately for her and us readers, Morrie is a persistent man!

It was a joy for me to read about older characters finding love because I think that it is possible. It was also fun to visit the characters from the Never Too Late series again. Most of all, I was impressed how Donna McDonald took a villain I disliked and made me care about her. Well done!
With Lydia, age 67, being flirted with by Morris, age 62, I was surprised at just how lively, touching, and romantic this story was. This is the most mature couple I have read so far and because it is part of a terrific series. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it. Also, Lydia was not a kind character from a previous story. But I was caught by the perk behind her cold, hard exterior that the author revealed a scared, lonely, unloved woman who was then easier to identify with.

As Lydia allows Morrie to invade her world, her facade behind to crumble. That were some laugh out loud moments and cringeworthy ones, too. There's the start of the next book's relationship with Jane, 38, and Walter, 26. I will admit to already having read and enjoyed that one.

I like that this series delves into issues like Lydia having stayed with her cheating husband and her lack of sexual satisfaction. Having past characters from previous books part of this one was wonderful.

I recommend this story as it works on so many levels.
To be honest I really didn't want to read about Lydia, Lauren's mother. She made me so mad in Lauren's book I didn't care about her story, but once I started a series I knew I had to finish. Well, this book was so intriguing and written so well I couldn't hardly put it down. Lydia's story was amazing. Her first husband treated her very badly and couldn't give her an orgasm and he left such a bad taste in her mouth she couldn't care less about men. She became a bitter old woman until she met Morrie. I fell completely in love with his character. He was so charming and persistent. He knew what he wanted and went after it, no matter how much rejection. It was so sad someone could make it that long in life not knowing what love was and how to be happy. I have to say I love Donna McDonald's stories and am excited for the next book!
I appreciate that this book focuses on older people, in this case, a couple in their mid-to-late sixties. It's the demographic I want to read about. However, I couldn't finish this book.

In romance writing, having the woman seem virginal is a frequently-used plot device. But with Lydia, it was just unbelievable. She couldn't even bring herself to say common words for body parts or interaction between lovers. (I'm trying to keep this clean so my review won't get bounced!)

It's not impossible for me to imagine that you could have people in their sixties, seventies, eighties or whatever, for whom THIS romance is the once in a lifetime, glorious BEST. It isn’t necessary to twist them into infantile, repressed people like Lydia. As interesting as older people are, I’d like to see a romance where the “first ever” aspect is more believable, and frankly, less yucky.
